Infrared Image of Galactic Center

This is the image taken by the on board sensors of Hubble Space Telescope called Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS) and is the sharpest image of the Galactic Center of Milky Way ever taken. The image revealed the great quantity of stars distributed through out the region and formation of star which the visibleĀ  light prevents from seeing with normal telescope, therefore infrared penetrates deep into the core of the galaxy.

The new spectrometer will help the scientists and astronomers to dig further into the great Galactic CenterĀ  and see that the massive stars are not confined to one of the three known clusters of massive stars in the Galactic Center, known as the Central cluster, the Arches cluster, and the Quintuplet cluster.

On the upper left huge arcs of ionized gas is seen and the lower left region shows pillars of gas sculpted by winds from hot massive stars in the Quintuplet cluster. At center the ionized gas surrounds the supermassive black hole.
