NASA successfully tested the new rocket motor engine for the upcoming Ares project. This motor will be fitted in Ares-1 and Ares V which will power the vehicle in the first stage. The experiment took place for 2 minutes and in this period of the time the engine delivered 22 million horsepower, and this first stage motor will generate up to 3.6 million pounds of thrust, or lifting power, at launch.

After the creation of liquid and solid rocket propellants comes a new and highly efficient propellant which can enhance future space exploration. This new rocket propellant is made up of Aluminum powder and water ice, which is currently being developed by Purdue University and Pennsylvania State University.
